Summary: This may be my very favorite hotel of all time. And I only say may to allow for the fact that I may be forgetting something. I can’t imagine, forgetting this. From the moment we arrived from the train station to the moment we sadly departed, every detail was thought of and accounted for. The staff are helpful and discreet, responding to every request as though we had simply asked them the time. This is the only unobtrusive turndown service I’ve ever experienced. . From calling taxis to arranging a Kintsugi experience, to deftly navigating a request to help retrieve some items left in a Tokyo hotel room, everything was absolutely seamless. . Bed was huge and comfortable, pajamas and robes lush, toilet, separate from the shower and private, and an in-room onsen built for two. . The pool is warm and mineral-fed, the grounds are breathtaking, and walking distance to Kinkakuji and some delicious sushi. . If I were forced to make a note, it would be that the Western items on the à la carte breakfast menu were not my favorite. But the buffet was great. . I would come back to Kyoto just to stay here.
